Description	:	The cremains of Doris B. Skates Pacot Brown were placed on top of her first husband's (Maynard Pacot) grave. Doris B. (Skates) Pacot Brown, 85, passed away surrounded by family at Billings Clinic on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008. Doris was born on March 30, 1923, in Ft. Pierre, S.D., to Walter and Ruth (nee Carlin) Skates. Doris was born on March 30, 1923, in Ft. Pierre, S.D., to Walter and Ruth (nee Carlin) Skates. One of eight children, she spent her childhood in Eagle Butte and then Billings. Doris married the love of her young life, Maynard Charles Pacot, on Feb. 7, 1942, in Billings. They were blessed with two children, a son, Bruce, and daughter Connie. They loved to dance and became known throughout the community with their Chevron station on Montana Avenue. Maynard died early in life and Doris was fortunate to meet another love. On Nov. 27, 1954, she married Vernon H. Brown. They lived in several areas of the United States and spent time in South America, but always returned to Billings, calling it home. When Vern retired, they returned, making their home in Billings. Doris was a special daughter, sister, wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and wonderful friend to all who knew her. Doris was a life member of the American Legion and loved performing with the Billings American Legion Drill Team. She was also a life member of the BPOE Elks Lodge in Billings. Doris is survived by her children: a son, Bruce A. (Dianne) Pacot; daughter Connie J. Pacot and Daisy Holman; four brothers and their families, Bud Skates of Riverton, Wyo., Jack (Doreen) Skates of Cody, Wyo., Bob (Lea) Skates of Billings, Fred (Pattie) Skates of Fredrick, Colo.; sisters-in-law Beverly Skates of Polson, Velma (Pacot) Harlow and Beth (Pacot) McGee of Gillette, Wyo.; all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Doris's love of life touched everyone who knew her. To her, wonderful family, friends, a great laugh, a good card game, and a fun dance gave life its sparkle. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Maynard Pacot and Vernon Brown; sisters Marge (J.T., deceased) Boehrs and Wanda (Sig, deceased) Hellod; and brother Bill Skates. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Cremation & Funeral Gallery, 29 Eighth St. West, Billings.
