Read More	Gaffney Ledger obituary August 5, 2016 Doris Brown Wheeler passed away on August 2, 2016 after a long illness in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was 85 years old. She was born in Gaffney, S.C. to Horace and Ethel Brown and was the youngest of four sisters. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Gaffney. In 1953 she graduated from Limestone College and after graduation she was married in West Point NY to Harold Peyton Wheeler. She then began her life as a military wife living overseas and in 10 different states. When she wasn’t raising her children, she enjoyed teaching remedial reading and substitute teaching. Being adventurous, she earned her private pilot’s license and had many other hobbies that kept her busy including researching family genealogy, making afghan throws, candy making, activities with the First Baptist Church of Gaffney and volunteering at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. She is survived by her children and their spouses: daughter Terry Loeslein and husband Tom of Chesapeake, Va., son Hal Wheeler and wife Jeanne of Silver Spring, Md., and son Marty Wheeler and wife Teresa of Edmond, Ok., her granddaughter Peyton Loeslein Rowley and husband Chad of Richmond Va., grandson Drew Loeslein of Virginia Beach, Va., great-grandson Alden Rowley and sister Margaret Brown Turner. She was predeceased in death by her husband Col. Harold P. Wheeler Jr., and sisters Hester Brown and Rae Deen. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the First Baptist Church of Gaffney for their continuous outpouring of love, support, and prayers through the years. She treasured the many notes of inspiration and caring she received. A service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating. Interment will follow at Frederick Memorial Gardens where the family will receive friends. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gaffney in her name addressed as follows: 200 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
