(Seibel) Faul, 100, of North Newton, KS, (formerly of Harvey, ND) peacefully entered her heavenly home on July 21, 2021. The interment will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 30 in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 30 at the Cornerstone Community Church South Campus, Harvey, ND. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND. Doris was born May 13, 1921 in Anamoose, ND to L.J. Seibel and Hulda Graumann Seibel. Doris lived in Anamoose, ND, then in Steele, ND, where her dad was a principal. She attended her first six grades in Minneapolis, MN. Following her dad's graduation from medical school in the spring of 1932, the family moved to Harvey, ND. Doris graduated from Harvey High School in 1938. She then attended Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS, for one year. The next year she entered nurses training at Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in Minot, ND. After receiving her R.N. degree in 1942, Doris worked in her dad's medical office as his nurse. Doris married her childhood sweetheart, Otto L. Faul, on June 6, 1943, in the Country Mennonite Brethren Church, rural Harvey. They lived in Kansas City, MO where Otto was finishing up his doctor of dental surgery degree. She traveled with her husband for about a year after he entered the U.S. Army in December 1943. Doris again worked in her dad's medical office when Otto was sent overseas for duty as a dental officer in India for 18 months. Following Otto's discharge from the Army in Sept. 1946, they settled in Harvey where Otto joined Robert Graumann in dental practice. A daughter, Julene Kay, was born March 16, 1947 and another daughter, Brenda Jean was born Sept. 9, 1952. Shortly after they had a home built at 512 Judy Blvd. where they resided the rest of their married life. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She supported her daughters in numerous school and church activities. Annual vacations at the lake and/or travel trailer excursions were a highlight each summer. Later, grandchildren were a great source of joy! Life changed dramatically when daughter, Julene, and her family were killed in a traffic accident in August 1982. But Doris and Otto clung to their faith in God and each other as they dealt with their grief. Doris thoroughly enjoyed traveling to other parts of the country with Otto in his semi-retirement. All too soon that came to an end when Otto died within 6 weeks of being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1993. Doris moved to Fargo, ND a year later in 1994. She enjoyed being near two of her siblings and families, along with new-found friends in her apartment building. Then, in 2010, she moved to an independent living apartment at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton, KS, to be near her daughter, son-in-law, and some of her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Doris moved into Kidron Bethel Healthcare after breaking her pelvis at age 90. Following rehabilitation she enjoyed attending family birthday parties, church services and events, concerts, and eating out until it was no longer safe or practical to do so. Even with advancing dementia, she and her family thoroughly enjoyed her 100th birthday celebration in May. Doris gave her heart to Christ at age 17. She was baptized in Coal Mine Lake near Martin, ND and joined the Country Mennonite Brethren Church in 1947. Doris taught Sunday School, Bible School, took part in WMS, and sang in the church choir and ladies chorus. She often accompanied congregational singing on the piano and accompanied and/or sang in vocal ensembles. Doris participated in numerous women's Bible Studies while living in Fargo. Doris was a good cook and baker. Family and friends enjoyed her knephla, kuchen, schuf noodle, and home-made pies and cookies! Sunday dinners were usually special meals, often with visitors around the table. She enjoyed knitting, embroidering, ceramics and shopping. The family wishes to thank the staff at Kidron Bethel Healthcare for providing Doris ten years of wonderful care! They are also appreciative of the comfort care given by Good Shepherd Hospice in the final weeks of her earthly life. Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto Faul; daughter, Julene (and Doug) Pottenger; grandchildren, Brett and Alicia Pottenger; one brother, Glenn Seibel; two sisters, Elaine Pomeroy and Joyce Faul; and sister-in-law, Elaine Seibel. Doris is survived by one daughter, Brenda (and Doug) Tofteland of Newton, KS; three grandchildren: Nathan (and Angela) Tofteland, Wichita, KS; Tanya (and Matt) Schroeder, Wichita, KS; and Noelle (and Justin) Potts, Victor, MT; eleven great grandchildren: Caleb, Abby, and Ethan Tofteland, Wichita, KS, Lincoln, Lyla, Emmit, and Desirae Schroeder, Wichita, KS, and Irelyn, Keenlyn, Quaid, and Quincie Potts, Victor, MT; one brother-in-law, Willis Faul, Harvey, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Tabor College, 400 South Jefferson, Hillsboro, KS 67063; Alzheimer's Association, or Cornerstone Community Church, 218 9th Street West, Harvey, ND 58341.
