Services are scheduled Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances Catholic Church in Randolph with burial in the parish cemetery and the Rev. John Andrews officiating. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday, with a 3 p.m. Christian Mothers rosary and 7 p.m. parish rosary, at the church. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. --- Doris Elaine (Paulson) Winkelbauer was born Feb. 1, 1925, to Edwin and Alma (Carlson) Paulson in Cedar County on a farm northeast of Magnet. Doris grew up on a farm two miles north of Magnet. She attended a one-room country schoolhouse until her family moved into Magnet in 1934. She then attended school in Magnet through the ninth grade, when her family moved to Randolph in 1940. Doris finished the 10th grade in Randolph. She enjoyed spending time with her brothers, sisters and cousins. In her early years, Doris worked as a housekeeper on a farm near Wausa and eventually worked at the Westside Cafe in Randolph. She also worked for a family in Hastings, taking care of their two boys. Doris married David Herman Winkelbauer on Jan. 20, 1947, at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph. They made their first homes in and around the Randolph area, while farming. In January 1962, they moved into Randolph and for the next 25 years, the family owned and operated K-W Grain Co. in Randolph. Doris lived at their home in Randolph until March 30, 2009, when she moved into the Colonial Manor in Randolph. She then moved to the Osmond General Hospital on April 17, 2009, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Doris was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and PCCW Circle One. She belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Randolph. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and housewife. She enjoyed embroidery, bowling, playing cards, fishing, baking and spending time with her family, friends and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doris is survived by her husband of 62 years, David of Randolph; seven children and spouses, Barb and Gary Frederick of Norfolk, Bob and Gloria Winkelbauer of Randolph, Rosie and Edwin Backer of Sioux City, Iowa, Roger and Sharolyn Winkelbauer of Randolph, Shirley and Randy Graf of Randolph, Jerry and Joy Winkelbauer of Randolph and Jeff and Suzanne Rose Winkelbauer of Omaha; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Geraldine and Richard Elswick of Rockford, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Alma Paulson; an infant daughter, Margaret; brothers Wayne, Lloyd and Harold; and a sister, Harriet Anderson. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Gary J. Frederick, Steve Winkelbauer, Chad Winkelbauer, Brian Winkelbauer, Bradley Winkelbauer, Chris Winkelbauer, Troy Graf and Heath Winkelbauer. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Dawn Denn, Angie Frederick, Mindy Dahlheim, Teri Winkelbauer, Jennifer Smith, Stephanie Weyenberg, Kerrie Junck, Tina Thelen, Tracy Backhaus, Jeri Gubbels, Shilo Stueckrath and Mitzi Husby.
