Doris was born August 18, 1915 on the family farm five miles southwest of Holdrege in Phelps County, Nebraska, the second of three children of Carl and Signey (Sunblade) Young. Doris was born August 18, 1915 on the family farm five miles southwest of Holdrege in Phelps County, Nebraska, the second of three children of Carl and Signey (Sunblade) Young. Doris was baptized in December of 1915 and then confirmed at the age of twelve at the Loomis Evangelical Free Church. She received her primary education at District #32 in Phelps County and then graduated from Loomis High School with the class of 1933. On February 26, 1941, Doris was united in marriage to Charles S. Waller at the Loomis Evangelical Free Church and to this union four daughters were born: Charlene, Donna, Linda and Janice. The family made their home north of Loomis, where Charles engaged in farming at the early age of twelve. Doris enjoyed life on the farm working side-by-side with Charles. In November of 1979, the couple moved to Loomis and later to Chrisoma Villa in Holdrege. On June 7, 2005 she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles. Doris was an active member of the Westmark Evangelical Free Church, where she volunteered her time with the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school for many years, member of the choir and White Cross. Doris was devoted to her Lord and her family. She had the gift of hospitality, loved to cook, especially for her family, enjoyed playing the piano and stayed active working crossword puzzles. She leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters: Donna Aman and her husband, LaRoyce of Holdrege and Linda Yelken and her husband, Dennis of Macon, Nebraska; son-in-law, Gerald Veal and his wife, Kathy of Holdrege; six grandchildren: Todd Veal and his wife, Carrie of Holdrege, Brad Veal and his wife, Shawn of Shawnee, Kansas, Robin Johnson and her husband, Lynn of Kearney, Nebraska, Amber Porter and her husband, James of Holdrege, Mike Yelken and his wife, Kari of Franklin, Nebraska and Lisa Hodge and her husband, Tim of Holdrege; nine great-grandchildren: Lindsay and Zane Veal, Noah and Aidan Veal, Paige Johnson, Erin and Bailey Porter and Madison and Abigail Yelken; sister, Irene Hazlett and her husband, Grant of Loomis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters: Charlene Veal and Janice Waller; one granddaughter in infancy, one great-grandson, Connor Johnson; brother, LaVern Young; and sisters-in-law: Thelma Baker and her husband, Ralph, Claryce Nelson and her husband, Leonard, Ruth Donnelson and her husband, Harold, Evelyn Burns and her husband, Ben and Phyllis Hagood.
