Description	:	CENTRAL CITY — Doris Geraldine Bankson, 93, of Central City, formerly of Hamilton County, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at Litzenberg Long Term Care Center in Central City surrounded by her family. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Hordville, with the Rev. Terry Cosier officiating. Burial will be in the Hordville Cemetery. Solt Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of the arrangements.. Mrs. Bankson was born March 8, 1921, near Hampton to Otto and Agnes (Miller) Andersen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, on Feb. 4, 1999. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Sara Bankson of Lincoln and Doyle (Rita) Bankson of Hastings; and two daughters and a son-in-law, Allerita and Jim Gerloff of Ayr and Karol Bankson-Recknor of Marquette. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Scott Bankson of Lincoln, Allen (Penne) Bankson of Gretna, Mark (Suzie) Gerloff of Omaha, Jeff Gerloff of Ayr, Kristi Gerloff of Phoenix, Laura Recknor of Omaha, and Ashley and Zach Bankson of Hastings; great-grandchildren, Devan and Isabella Gerloff of Omaha and Emma Gerloff of Pleasanton; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Lana Berry of Gretna. Due to the death of her mother, Doris was cared for by various family members and friends. At 3 years of age, Doris was taken to the P.C. Williamsen home in Marquette. They helped to raise her until she graduated from Marquette High School in 1939. She then attended Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa. On Sept. 15, 1943, she was united in marriage to Herbert J. Bankson. They made their home in Hamilton County, where they farmed. Volunteer work was her delight. She volunteered at Marquette School for 20 years. She worked with the the bloodmobile for several years and served on the Aurora Christian Women board. Her volunteer work continued in Hamilton Manor and Central City Long Term Care. She was a member of the Hamilton Manor Auxiliary. Doris loved her Lord and Savior, practiced many Danish traditions, and was dedicated to her family. She was a member of Fridhem Lutheran Church in Hordville. She was also preceded in death by her parents and twin sister.
