Her funeral service was held Thuraday, October 23, at American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial was at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Doris Ione Peterson was born Doris Ione Krueger on April 17, 1915, to Arthur and Almeda Krueger at Groton, SD. She graduated from Groton High School in 1933, then received her RN degree from Presentation College School of Nursing at Aberdeen, SD. Her nursing career began at St. Luke's Hospital at Aberdeen, then at Ochedan, IA, and Groton, SD. She also worked as a receptionist for Dr's. Paul and Gordon Bell at Aberdeen. Doris was a charter member of the Riverview United Methodist Church, a member of American Lutheran Church and Mary Circle, William Reaves American Legion Post #7 Auxiliary for which she was a past president, 40 et 8, and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Doris is survived by one daughter, Patricia Jackson of Huron; one sister, Lois (Duane) Schwichtenberg of Lakeland, Fla; three step-children, Max (Jeannette) Peterson of Huron, Merna (Duane) Williams of Surprise, AZ, and Jack (Eleanor) Peterson of St. Paul, MN; seven step grandchildren, Kristine Kohanek, Doug Peterson, Michelle Kragness, Scott Williams, Debbie Williams, Blake Peterson and Susan Peterson; five great grandchildren, Blake Kohanek, Brett Kohanek, Maggie Peterson, Gray Peterson, and Saylor Kragness. She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands, Herman Eklo of Mobridge, SD, Hans Ennen of Huron, SD, and C.H. "Jumbo" Peterson of Huron.
