She was born March 26, 1919 in Granada, KS, the daughter of Roscoe and Artemicia “Artie” (Williams) Guffy. One son and 3 daughters were born to this union. Doris attended grade school in Granada. She was a homemaker, worked for Slimaker Dress Factory in Holton and also for Sutton’s Deli in Topeka. Read More	HOLTON- Doris Irene Adams, 99, of Holton, KS, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Medicalodge Jackson County in Holton. She was born March 26, 1919 in Granada, KS, the daughter of Roscoe and Artemicia “Artie” (Williams) Guffy. One son and 3 daughters were born to this union. Doris attended grade school in Granada. She was a homemaker, worked for Slimaker Dress Factory in Holton and also for Sutton’s Deli in Topeka. Doris’s passion was cooking; she assisted with many funeral dinners at Larkinburg Christian Church. She also enjoyed reading her Bible. Doris married Leonard Andrew Adams on October 29, 1937 in Horton, KS. They celebrated over 47 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Naftzger; a son, Harold Adams; 5 sisters, Marjorie Coanda, Ruth Prevatte, Vivian Reeves, Mildred Banks, and Gladys Bontrager and 4 brothers, Boyd, George, Keith and Wesley Guffy. Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Monson of Holton, KS and Sharon Bohannon (Bill) of Holton, KS; her brother, Max Guffy of Topeka, KS; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Larkinburg Christian Church. Private family burial will be at a later date in the Wetmore Cemetery. Doris will lie in state Monday through Wednesday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Larkinburg Christian Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
