Read More	The REECE FUNERAL HOME Doris Wilz June 22, 1928 - October 20, 2021 Doris Jacqueline Wilz, 93, passed away peacefully October 20, 2021 at Hospice House in Ottumwa. She was born June 22, 1928, in Ottumwa, Iowa to Elmer and Mabel Richards Lewzader. Family was defined in many ways to Doris, but it was always tied to love. She was first married to Chuck VanAntwerp for 17 years before he passed. Soon after she found the new love of her life in Karl. This led to a wonderful, new chapter in Doris's life where she became an instant mother of four, a new career, and inherited a German family. This did not come without challenges, but she met them with honor and grace. Helping run a family business and raise a family were very important to her. Whether it was helping a customer at Edd the Florist or managing Hickory House in Oskaloosa, she and Karl worked together for 24 years to create a successful business. As Hans took over the family business, it allowed them more time for the grandchildren and travels to see family. When Karl passed in 2004, Doris became an Auxiliary Volunteer at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was known as the "Tuesday morning girl," serving homemade cookies, coffee and comfort to patients and families in the McCreery Cancer Center. Her greatest passion in life was raising her children and grandchildren. Karl Jr., Katie, Fred and Hans provided her joy in their achievements and a smile on her face with their adventures. As grandchildren came so did the opportunity for her to share her time and love with all of them. Her love has left unique, lasting memories with each and every one of them. Doris is survived by three sons and one daughter, Karl Jr. of Kirkville, Fred (Angie) of Ankeny, Hans (Beth) of Ottumwa, and Katie of Ottumwa; a nephew, Mike Lewzader (Jacque) of Dubuque; 12 grandchildren, Kyle (Amanda), Kelsey, Rowdy, Tanner (Codi), Devan (Tyler), Marshal (Shania), Hunter (Rylee), Savanah (Miles), Zachary, Hannah, Andreas, and Marcus; and 7 great grandchildren, Winston, Thatcher, Buxton, Riggs, Slater, Cutler, and Ansley. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Elmer and her sisters, Rosemary and Doris; a grandchild, Nicholas and Mary Van Antwerp. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, October 24th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. For those unable to attend, it may be viewed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Funeral Mass will be 10:25 a.m. Monday, October 25th at St. Mary of the Visitation with Fr. Jim Betzen C.PP.S. and Fr. Patrick Hilgendorf concelebrating. For those unable to attend the service, it may be viewed on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
