Doris Jan Banta was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Farnhamville, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde Richard and Mabel Arlone (Gray) Wood. She moved with her family to Syracuse, N.Y., for a couple of years and then returned to Correctionville, Iowa. She graduated from Correctionville High School with the class of 1956. On June 8, 1957, she was united in marriage to Dave Vic Banta in Correctionville. The couple lived in Sioux City and later moved to Anthon. She worked at the Correctionville and Battle Creek, Iowa, nursing homes and at K-Mart in Sioux City until retiring. She was a member of Church of Christ and served as the secretary of Oak Hill Cemetery since 1969. Those survivors left to cherish their memories include her husband of 46 years, Dave Vic; a son and his wife, Mark and Melanie Banta of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Vicky Lynn and Adam Marder of Fairfax, Va.; four grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Kathy and David Easley of Mustang, Okla., and Marilyn and Henry Skoglund of Farnhamville, Iowa; a brother, Richard Wood of Oregon; and other relatives and many good friends and neighbors.
