Description	:	Doris Joan Ramsey, 84, of Halstad, MN, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the Altru Medical Center, Grand Forks, ND. She was born on November 18, 1930, to Sverre and Selma (Jacobson) Rise in Sutton, ND. Doris graduated from the Sutton High School in 1948. On June 12, 1949, Doris was united in marriage to Gordon Ramsey at Mabel Lutheran Church, Sutton, ND. As Gordon worked for the Railroad, they lived in various communities in the Midwest: Breckenridge, MN, Moorhead, MN, and Minot, ND. She was born on November 18, 1930, to Sverre and Selma (Jacobson) Rise in Sutton, ND. Doris graduated from the Sutton High School in 1948. On June 12, 1949, Doris was united in marriage to Gordon Ramsey at Mabel Lutheran Church, Sutton, ND. As Gordon worked for the Railroad, they lived in various communities in the Midwest: Breckenridge, MN, Moorhead, MN, and Minot, ND. Doris cared for her children as a homemaker—allowing her to be “the hub” of the family. Gordon retired in 1998, and they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, during the summer and wintered in Weslaco, TX. In 2000, they moved to Cooperstown, ND to be closer to family. Doris and Gordon moved to Fargo, ND, in 2004, and shortly after, on August 31, 2004, Gordon passed away from a battle with cancer. In 2013, Doris moved to the Heritage Home in Halstad, MN, to be closer to her daughter. Outgoing, easy to talk with, friendly and interested in others describes Doris well. She had a heart for adventure and a way of making a house a “home”. Cooking and serving a meal to a few or a lot came easy to Doris. She was very active in the various church communities where she lived-- willingly heading up various committees. Camping in a dirt floor tent or a full size camper was enjoyable for her and her family. Doris loved the fellowship of playing card games with family and friends, especially pinochle and Scrabble. Her greatest love in life was spending time with family. Doris is survived by two sons and one daughter: Craig (Anne), Warren (Julie), and Susan (Ron); Beverly Ramsey, daughter-in-law; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gordon, one son, Brian, May 12, 2015, two brothers, Stanley and Sverre Jr. and one sister, Beverly Casey.
