Born May 24, 1930, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Pearl and Sarah Gard, she lived in Richmond most of her life. Doris was a graduate of Boston High School. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed baking and selling her baked goods at Flea Markets. Doris was a graduate of Boston High School. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed baking and selling her baked goods at Flea Markets. Survivors include her daughters, Diana (Max) Jeffrey of Mooresville, Ind., Phyllis (Sam) Camden of Richmond, Paula (Steve) Orsborn of Richmond, and Cynthia (Billy) Heiber of Liberty; sons, Larry Pickering, Paul Pickering and Jerry Pickering, all of Richmond, Randy Pickering of Minnesota, Keith (Kim) Pickering, Tim Pickering, David (Missy) Pickering and Jason Pickering, all of Richmond; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Nina Houser of Richmond and Wanda Aukerman of Eaton, Ohio; brother, Fred Gard of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Pickering, who died in 2005; son, James Franklin Pickering; daughter, Karen Beth Pickering; sisters, Marjorie Pelfrey and Mary Grove; and brothers, Sam Gard and Robert Gard. Visitation for Doris L. Pickering will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2010, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Russell L. Fraley officiating. Burial will be in Boston Cemetery.
