She was the wife of 48 years to the late George P. Svec, who predeceased her in 1983. Mrs. Svec was born in Barnes, Kansas, on Jan. 25, 1922, daughter of late Jay and Fanny (Lillibridge) Wanamaker. She had been a resident of Old Saybrook since the 1950s before moving to Leominster, Massachusetts a year ago to be closer to her daughter in Lunenburg, Massachusetts. Svec, who predeceased her in 1983. Mrs. Svec was born in Barnes, Kansas, on Jan. 25, 1922, daughter of late Jay and Fanny (Lillibridge) Wanamaker. She had been a resident of Old Saybrook since the 1950s before moving to Leominster, Massachusetts a year ago to be closer to her daughter in Lunenburg, Massachusetts. Mrs. Svec had also been an active member of the First Church of Christ Congregational of Old Saybrook and once served as a deaconess of the church. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie K. McKeever and her husband Don, and Pamela S. Svec; four grandchildren, Ryan Svec, Josh McKeever, Sean McKeever, and Zack McKeever and his wife Sarah; and one great-grandson, Jayson McKeever. She was predeceased in 2008 by her son Roger Svec, formerly of Old Saybrook; her brother Kenneth Wanamaker, formerly of Owensboro, Kentucky; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Svec, formerly of Little Ferry, New Jersey. A memorial service will be held for Doris on Wednesday, May 22, at 11 a.m., at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 366 Main St., Old Saybrook. Her burial will follow in the church’s Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels, Estuary Council of Seniors, 220 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT 06475. The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 763 Mass Ave., Lunenburg, Massachusetts, is in charge of arrangements.
