Description	:	Doris Lee C. McCants, wife of J. Heyward McCants, entered into eternal rest on October 17, 2007 at the Hospice Center of Charleston. Mrs. McCants was born on March 16, 1930 in Trio, SC to the late Mitchell C. Cottingham and Mary Lee Cole Cottingham. She grew up in Trio and attended Williamsburg County Schools. She was a devoted wife to Heyward and a loving mother to her three boys, Roger, Jerry and Lynn. She was a great cook and seamstress. Heyward McCants, entered into eternal rest on October 17, 2007 at the Hospice Center of Charleston. Mrs. McCants was born on March 16, 1930 in Trio, SC to the late Mitchell C. Cottingham and Mary Lee Cole Cottingham. She grew up in Trio and attended Williamsburg County Schools. She was a devoted wife to Heyward and a loving mother to her three boys, Roger, Jerry and Lynn. She was a great cook and seamstress. In 1968, Mr. McCants opened the McCants Service Station at Montague and Mixon in North Charleston. Mrs. McCants worked with her husband at the service station until they both retired in March 1993. Mrs. McCants loved her mother and sisters and brothers and her extended family, and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them and loved to provide a great meal for all to share. She gladly opened her home for her family for extended periods where there was a need. Mrs. McCants was very strong in her faith in God and was an active member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, J. Heyward McCants of North Charleston, SC; three sons, Roger H. McCants (Diane) and J. Lynn McCants (Stephanie), all of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Jerry B. McCants (Carol) of North Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren, Darren McCants, Bobby McCants, Becky Messina, Lauren Alexander, John McCants, MaryCole McCants and Will McCants; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Juanita C. Gordon of Georgetown, SC, Margaret B. Smith of Kingstree, SC, and Marilyn B. Summers of Columbia, SC; brothers, Mitchell C. Cottingham, Jr. of Manning, SC, Ralph Cottingham of Sumter, SC, Wallace R. Cottingham of Georgetown, SC, and Walter C. Cottingham. Mrs. McCants was preceded in death by her brothers, J.D. Cottingham and Sam F. Cottingham. The family requests that memorials be made to the Holmes Avenue Baptist Church or The Hospice Center of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
