Born June 17, 1922, in Gilmore, she was the daughter of the late Walter Hensey and Bella Louise (Brown) Simpson. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Simpson, William Simpson, and Walter Simpson Jr.; four sisters, Elsie Hausroth, Dorothy Elliott, Isabella Morrison, and Emily Allen; one grandson, Jeffrey Crabtree; and one granddaughter, Joyce House. Born June 17, 1922, in Gilmore, she was the daughter of the late Walter Hensey and Bella Louise (Brown) Simpson. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Simpson, William Simpson, and Walter Simpson Jr.; four sisters, Elsie Hausroth, Dorothy Elliott, Isabella Morrison, and Emily Allen; one grandson, Jeffrey Crabtree; and one granddaughter, Joyce House. Mrs. Arnold was a homemaker. She was a member of Rawlings United Methodist Church, and the Rawlings Womens Society, Rawlings. Doris was a very special loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all of her family, friends, neighbors, and church family. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Raymond Luther Arnold; three daughters, Doris House and husband George, Fort Ashby, W.Va., Dorothy Crabtree and husband James, Oldtown, and Bella Abe and husband Fred, Cresaptown; seven grandchildren, Fred L. Abe Sr. and wife Ann, Cumberland, Raymond M. House and wife Kimberly, Baltimore, Paula Tolson and husband Steve, Baltimore, James Crabtree Jr. and wife Jane, Oldtown, Kathy Shambaugh and husband Wade, Paw Paw, W.Va., and Sandy Lippold and husband Pete, Cumberland. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with Andrew Droll officiating. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Fred L. Abe Sr., James Crabtree Jr., Wade Shambaugh, Pete Lippold, Steve Tolson, and Ray House. Memorials may take the form of donations to the Rawlings United Methodist Church.
