Contributor: Julie (Erickson) Christian (49685598) Doris Crecelius was born July 9, 1913, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Tom and Emma (Kurtz) Inch. Her father died when she was 8 years old and her mother remarried a gentleman by the name of Edwin West, who adopted Doris and her brother Kurtz. They made their home on the West family farm near Volin, South Dakota. Doris graduated from Gayville High School in Gayville, South Dakota, received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Yankton College and her RN degree in nursing from St. Vincent School of Nursing in Iowa City, Iowa. In 1939, Doris was united in marriage to Harry "HG" Crecelius in Yankton. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1949. For over 50 years, Doris did volunteer work at the hospitals in Phoenix. She was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Phoenix where she played in the bell choir and sang in the church choir for over 45 years. Doris moved to Columbus, Nebraska, in 2005 to be near family. She enjoyed knitting, yard work, and was a avid reader. Doris is survived by: Daughter - Susan (Steve) McClure of Columbus, NE Son - Paul (Jane) Crecelius of San Diego, CA Grandson - Michael (Karla) McClure of Longmont, CO Great Grandchild - Ethan McClure Grandson - Derek (Andrea) McClure of Omaha, NE Great Grandchild - Katelyn McClure Doris was preceded in death by: Parents - Edwin and Emma West Husband - "HG" Crecelius Brother - Kurtz West
