Doris attended school in the Saint Anthony School District graduating with the class of 1947. On Sunday; July 8, 1951 Doris was united in marriage to Darwin Pfantz at the Saint Paul Lutheran Church in State Center; Marshall County, Iowa. Doris enjoyed being a farm wife, but also worked at Diamond Vogel Paint and ran the bookkeeping department and retired from there after 31 years of faithful service. Doris loved to collect baby spoons, salt and pepper shakers and enjoyed playing cards. She and Darwin enjoyed traveling and had been to 48 of the states, but the most important thing in Doris' life was her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She loved to share about their lives and accomplishments. Doris was the rock of her family and will be remembered for being a very hard worker. Doris Louise (Zahnd) Pfantz, age: 83, passed away on Sunday; January 15, 2012 at the Villa del Sol Nursing Center in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa with her husband Darwin by her side. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her husband of 60 years, Darwin; her sons: Mike (LeAnne) Pfantz of Omaha, Nebraska, Lynn (Barb) Pfantz of Morrow, Ohio, David (Karen) Pfantz of State Center and James (Judi) Pfantz of Melbourne; her grandchildren: Brad (Jaine) Pfantz, Tanya (Casey) Waite, Shelly (Dave) Winter, Shawna (Jason) Cloud, Sandy (Josh) Sandlin, John Pfantz, Alyssa (Alex Vibbard), and Summer (Henry) Lia; her 10 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; Doris' siblings: Margaret Gelhaus of Hubbard, Iowa, Darlene Buck of Ft Dodge, Iowa, Robert Zahnd of Melbourne, Iowa and Richard (Marilee) Zahnd of Moravia, Iowa. Doris rejoins in heaven her parents: Chris (Martha) Zahnd and her brother: John Zahnd.
