Description	:	Doris Macy, 95, lifetime Brule resident, died March 3, 2010, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala. Doris was born January 3, 1915 in Pleasanton, NE., the daughter of Albert and Grace Chingren Pearson. She graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1933. After attending Kearney State Teachers College, Doris moved to Brule in 1935 and taught in Sunnyslope rural school. She also substituted at Brule schools. Doris met Frank Macy at a local dance. Doris was born January 3, 1915 in Pleasanton, NE., the daughter of Albert and Grace Chingren Pearson. She graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1933. After attending Kearney State Teachers College, Doris moved to Brule in 1935 and taught in Sunnyslope rural school. She also substituted at Brule schools. Doris met Frank Macy at a local dance. They were married April 26, 1941 in the Brule Congregational parsonage. The couple made their home on a farm north of Brule. They retired and moved to Brule in 1972. Doris moved to Indian Hills Manor in May 2001. She was a member of the Brule Congregational Church and the Women's Fellowship. Doris enjoyed belonging to several card clubs and Happy Hour Garden Club. She also volunteered with the 4-H program. Her hobbies included playing the piano and she helped form the Gold Dust Twins musical group and later the Silver Nuggets who entertained at various social events. Other hobbies included baking wedding cakes, embroidering, and quilting. Preceding her in death was her husband Frank in 1983, sisters Erma Evert, Helen Welsh, Lucille "Tick" Supanchick, Maude Welsh, Lavon Pearson, and an infant sister; and four brothers: D. Pearson, Paul Pearson, Howard Pearson, and Gil Pearson. Survivors include her daughter Avis and her husband Thaddeus Glenn of Brule, and two granddaughters: Kerri Stephenson and her husband Paul Hemmerla of Ottawa, KS. and Brenda Stephenson of Littleton, CO.
