She passed away at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa on April 9, 1994. She had reached the age of 64 years, 9 months, and 24 days. Doris was baptized August 25, 1929 in the Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa, by Rev. G. Doris was baptized August 25, 1929 in the Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa, by Rev. G. Gunsten and confirmed September 12, 1943 in Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marathon County, Wisconsin by the Rev. W.O. Nommemsen. Doris spent her childhood on a farm near Rangeline, Wisconsin. She attended the Willis County grade school and graduated from the Marshfield High School. On September 6, 1947 she was married to Harold E. "Hoot" Meyer in Day Township, Marathon County, Wisconsin. They had three children. After their marriage, they lived in Postville, Iowa which would be their life time home. Doris was employed at the Groth Packing Company and later worked as a cook at the Phillips 66 Cafe. She also managed the "Koffee Shop" in downtown Postville. When the Good Samaritan Center was opened in Postville, she was employed as the cook and dietician. For 17 years, Doris and "Hoot" owned and operated Meyer's 66 Cafe. Doris enjoyed camping, fishing, working with ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and most of all spending time with their grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Larry Gene Meyer, and a sister, Jane Ruckdaschel. She is survived by her husband Harold, daughter Linda (Donald) Muchow of Luana, Iowa and son Terry (Robin) Meyer of Postville; 5 grandchildren Dustan Berns, Derek Muchow, Kyle Muchow, Leah Meyer, and Jeremy Meyer; her two brothers Eugene (Karen) Ellis of Clermont, Iowa, Dale (Connie) Ellis of Elgin, Iowa and two sisters Donna Harris, and Betty (Milo) Helgerson, both of Postville.
