Description	:	Doris Mae Fonken, 82, of Kamrar died Sunday, April 18, 2010 in Grants, NM. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, Kamrar. Interment will follow in the Presbyterian Cemetery.Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will follow in the Presbyterian Cemetery.Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Doris was born July 14, 1927 the daughter of Louis and Harmka (Cordes) Olthoff on a farm north of Blairsburg, IA. Doris graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1944. She was extremely active with planning and coordinating the class reunions. On June 26, 1947 Doris was united in marriage to Lester Fonken at the First Presbyterian Church in Kamrar. To this union three children were born. In 1970 Doris graduated from Iowa State University with a BS degree in elementary education. She went on to teach special education with the AEA and the Webster City Community School system until her retirement. Following her retirement she volunteered with Hospice. Doris was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church serving as a Deacon, on the worship committee, numerous offices in the Presbyterian Women's Association, church circles, and the Sunday School program. She also served on the board of Presbyterian Women and the Presbytery level. Those thankful for having shared in Doris' life include her children; Mark Fonken and his fianc Susan, Max and his wife Jackie Fonken, Van and his wife Sheila Fonken, two sisters; Genevieve Law, Letha Supple, seven grandchildren; Katie, Abby, Joe, Ben, Sarah, Tana and Christopher. Mrs. Fonken was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister; Vivian Olthoff and one brother Lawrence Olthoff.
