Doris was born January 16, 1926 near Fullerton, Nebr. to Herman & Margaret (Lewis) Sorensen. She was a 1944 graduate of Tekamah High School. Doris earned her teacher's certificate at Wayne State College and taught school until marrying Jack Carson of Craig on Dec. 26, 1946. They farmed south of Craig, then returned to Tekamah in 1998. Mrs. Carson was a member of the Craig American Legion Auxiliary and the Craig Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by husband Jack, sister Shirley Weregen, infant sister Ruth, and infant grandson James Carson. Survivors include: daughter Ann (Burns) McCulloh of O'Neill, Linda (Harry) Bisanz of Tekamah, and Kathy (Neil) Jensen of Blair; sons Gary Carson of Craig and Randy (Janell) Carson of Herman; sisters Evelyn Stejskal of Palatine, ILand Betty (Vernon) Goedeken of Columbus, brother Melvine (Marie) Sorensen of West St. Paul, MN, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Carson's funeral was Wed., Sept. 8, at the Craig Presbyterian Church, Rev. Rich Tiggelaar officiating. Pam Schinck was organist. Burial was in the Craig Cemetery. Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home, Tekamah, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Carl Pearson, Jackson Carson, Matthew Jensen, Kevin Bisanz, Mike Uhing and Robert Goedeken. Honorary pallbearers were Capt. Tim McCulloh, Jennifer Nelson, Danielle Jensen, Emily Carson, Kim Bisanz and Ryan Jensen.
