Description	:	SOLDIER, Iowa \| Doris M. Burson, 97, of Soldier passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Soldier Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Joel Gueningsman officiating. Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery, rural Soldier. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.rushfamilycareservice.com. Doris Marie was born on Aug. 13, 1918, the daughter of Andrew and Annie (Skow) Shol, on a farm near Moorhead, Iowa. On Feb. 20, 1940, she married George Burson. In 1945, she and George bought a farm near Soldier, where they farmed for more than 30 years. Doris and George had two sons, Larry and Kirby. Doris was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid. She is survived by her sons, Larry Burson and wife, Terry of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Kirby Burson and wife, Linda of Heber, Ariz.; granddaughter, Carey Hladik and husband, Mark of Mapleton, Iowa; great-granddaughter, Kaylie Smeltzer; great-grandson, Ethan Hladik; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Andrew and Annie; two brothers, Elmer and Leslie Shol; and four sisters, Beatrice, Francis, Lola, and Alice.
