Batcheller, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Gobel) Granger, was born November 21, 1923 at Alma, Michigan and passed from this life September 29, 2020 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa at the age of 96 years, 10 months and 8 days. Doris attended and graduated from Saginaw High School in Saginaw, Michigan. After graduating, Doris worked as a clerk for the Bigelow Company in Saginaw. Batcheller, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Gobel) Granger, was born November 21, 1923 at Alma, Michigan and passed from this life September 29, 2020 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa at the age of 96 years, 10 months and 8 days. Doris attended and graduated from Saginaw High School in Saginaw, Michigan. After graduating, Doris worked as a clerk for the Bigelow Company in Saginaw. In October 1944, Doris joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Seaman first class in the Waves (Women accepted for voluntary service). While in the service, Doris met Harley Batcheller, who was also serving in the Navy. On August 25, 1945, Doris Granger was united in marriage to Harley Batcheller in Rockville, Maryland. Two children, James and Peggy, were born to this union. After their marriage and discharge from the Navy, the couple moved to Paton where Harley operated a service station. Doris raised her family and later worked as school secretary at Paton for several years. Starting in 1975, Harley and Doris enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. Harley passed away in October 2001 and Doris continued to make her home in Paton. Later she moved to an apartment in Fort Dodge to be near her son and after a fall she became a resident at the Fort Dodge Villa. Doris was a member of the Paton Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star. Doris is survived by her two children; Jim and his wife, Sandy, and Peg and her husband, Paul; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther and Betty; and a brother, Dan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Dick Granger. Graveside services were held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the Paton Township Cemetery with Glenn Rohden officiating. Full military honors were conducted by the Navy Honor Guard.
