Description	:	Doris May Beck, 90, of Lincoln, Nebraska, former Lexington resident, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015, at The Monarch House in Lincoln. Doris was born September 1, 1925, near Smithfield, Nebraska, the 5th of six children to Herman and Jemima (Birt) Holthus. She grew up near Smithfield and graduated with the class of 1941, at the age of 16. Read More	Doris May Beck, 90, of Lincoln, Nebraska, former Lexington resident, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015, at The Monarch House in Lincoln. Doris was born September 1, 1925, near Smithfield, Nebraska, the 5th of six children to Herman and Jemima (Birt) Holthus. She grew up near Smithfield and graduated with the class of 1941, at the age of 16. Doris then went onto further her education at Kearney State Teacher’s College, where she earned her Teaching Certificate. She taught for two years at District North #17. Doris was united in marriage to H. Grant Beck on October 15, 1944, in Kansas. Three children were blessed to this marriage; Lee, Roxie, and Marcia. She was a stay-at-home mother while raising her children, and helped do the books for Grant’s Pioneer Seed Company. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was involved in church circles, and UMW. She was also a member of the Happy Hookers Knitting Club, as well as an extension club, and 4-H. Doris was a very caring lady, always hospitable, and wanted her guests to feel welcome with a cup of coffee, a glass of iced tea, and lively conversation. She loved hugs, they were her lifeline. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, and traveling. Her family meant the world to her, and she will be so very missed. Survivors include her children; Lee (Carolyn) Beck of Hastings, Nebraska, Roxie (Gary) Jasper of Columbus, Nebraska, and Marcia (Drew) Lepinski of Lincoln, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Shelly (Dustin) Everitt of Fremont, Nebraska, Gary (Jennifer) Higbee of Parker, Colorado, Kevin (Kammi) Beck of Parker, Colorado, Becky Lepinski of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Will Lepinski of Lincoln, Nebraska; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Suhr, Austin & Madison Everitt, Emily Beck, and Ian & Eli Beck; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grant; three brothers, and one sister. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 23, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Dyton Owen officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
