Description	:	Doris Thorne Splawn, 93, formerly of 905 Henderson Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at White Oak Manor in Spartanburg. Born in Chesnee, she was the widow of the late Jesse J. Splawn and daughter of the late Boyd T. Thorne and Bessie Hollifield Thorne. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Everette Thorne, J. D. Thorne and Paul Thorne. She retired from the Spartanburg County District # 2 School System, loved gardening and flowers, and was a member of Arrowwood Baptist Church... She retired from the Spartanburg County District # 2 School System, loved gardening and flowers, and was a member of Arrowwood Baptist Church and the Bessie Brannon Sunday School class. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Surviving are two sons, Bruce Splawn and wife, Debbie, of Chesnee and Caroll Splawn and wife, June, of Inman; a sister, Merle Ruppe of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Amanda Scruggs and husband, Jonas, of Chesnee, Angela Cody and husband, Terry, of Jonesville, and Rev. Wayne Splawn and wife, Mary, of Birmingham, Alabama; six great-grandchildren, Makayla, Bryson, Webb, Eleanor, Jonathan and Jaryn; a special friend and caregiver, Penny Turner of Chesnee. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 5:30 PM on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Arrowwood Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 5:30 PM at the Church with Rev. Daniel Godfrey, Rev. Wayne Splawn and Mrs. Mary Splawn officiating. Interment will be private for the family. Memorials may be made to: Arrowwood Baptist Church (Youth Fund), 1410 Highway 11 West, Chesnee, SC 29323. The family will be at their respective homes.
