Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Plainview, Nebraska. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, November 9th at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview. Doris Miller Petersen was born February 18th, 1920 in Plainview, Nebraska and entered eternal rest on November 7th, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Care Center in Norfolk, Nebraska after suffering a severe stroke. Her parents were Ernest and Pearl Miller. Doris grew up on a farm east of Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. Doris married Edwin Petersen on December 6th, 1939 at the Crawford Valley Parsonage. They were blessed with five children; sons Carlyle, Don, and Merlen and daughters Jeanine and Janelle. Ed and Doris lived on a farm south of Plainview until 1967 when they moved to Norfolk, Nebraska. Doris was employed by J.C. Penny while in Norfolk. Later they moved back to Plainview where she was employed at Paul’s Grocery Store. They were faithful members of Stark Valley Church and later Plainview Methodist Church. Doris is survived by her family. She has two sons and daughter-in-laws; Carlyle and Carol Petersen of Loveland, Colorado and Don and Faythe Petersen of Norfolk, Nebraska. She has two daughters and son-in-laws; Jeanine and Gene Doerr of Hollister, Missouri and Janelle and Dwight Ashton of Santa Rosa, California. Doris has ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her son Merlen, her parents, her husband Edwin, one sister and three brothers.
