Doris was born on February 9, 1922, in Shelby County, Missouri, the daughter of Samuel Ellis and Leona (Herbst) Forman. Doris was united in marriage to Wilbur Eugene Copenhaver on June 12, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1985. Read More	Doris Virginia (Forman) Copenhaver, age 97, of Shelbyville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019, at the Salt River Community Care Center in Shelbina, Missouri. Doris was born on February 9, 1922, in Shelby County, Missouri, the daughter of Samuel Ellis and Leona (Herbst) Forman. Doris was united in marriage to Wilbur Eugene Copenhaver on June 12, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1985. Doris graduated from Bethel High School and attended St. Louis City Hospital Training School of Nursing and graduated in 1946. Doris continued to work there as a registered nurse. After being married, Doris and Wilbur moved to Davenport, Iowa, where she was employed at St. Luke Hospital. In 1954, they moved to the farm in Bethel, Missouri. She worked at Pleasant Hill Nursing Home in Shelbyville. In 1973, she began her 20 year career at Salt River Nursing Home in Shelbina. She spent most of her life as a homemaker for her three sons and helped her husband on the farm. Doris especially enjoyed the cattle, visits with neighbors, and gardening. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald Copenhaver of Shelbina, and Gregory Copenhaver and wife Donna of Shelbyville; six grandchildren, Tammy Chitwood (Nathan), Tim Copenhaver (Susan), Rusty Copenhaver (Angie), Mark Copenhaver (Sydney), Jody Veale (Lucas), and Danny Copenhaver (Holly); eleven great-grandchildren; and six nieces and one nephew. Doris is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Maurine Forman Bichsel; her step-son, Robert W. Copenhaver; and her daughter-in-law, Carol Sue Copenhaver. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, Missouri. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home. Following the service, burial will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, located in Clarence, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the Maplewood Cemetery.
