Description	:	Dorothea Catherine "Dora" (Schwanke) Mathwick was born to her loving parents on Monday August 28, 1836 at West Prussia Germany. Dorothea was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith during her early years. Dorothea immigrated to the United States in 1853 with her parents. Dorothea was united in marriage to Christ Mathwich two years later in 1855, they were blessed with seven children over the years of marriage. Read More	Dorothea Catherine "Dora" (Schwanke) Mathwick was born to her loving parents on Monday August 28, 1836 at West Prussia Germany. Dorothea was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith during her early years. Dorothea immigrated to the United States in 1853 with her parents. Dorothea was united in marriage to Christ Mathwich two years later in 1855, they were blessed with seven children over the years of marriage. The couple first lived in Madison, Dane County Wisconsin until 1864 when they moved to Fremont, Dodge County Nebraska. They travel to Fremont in a ninety two wagon train. Half of the train settled in Nebraska and the other half continued traveling to the goldfields of California. Dorothea and Christ operated a store where the Fremont Post Office stands now. They resided in or near Fremont for three years then moved to Scribner, Dodge County on the Elkhorn River banks. They resided there for the next fifty years. Dorothea was a strong hard working pioneer woman and had a heart of gold. Sadly Dorothea passed on Monday January 21, 1924 at the age of 87 years, 4 months, 24 days which does not include her last day, she lived a total of 31,921 days. Dorothea's funeral service was held at the Congregational Church on Wednesday January 23, 1924 with the Rev. Toms officiating. Dorothea was interred in the Scribner Cemetery. Dorothea's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to Dorothea by Loren R.
