Description	:	Mrs. Dorothea Kahle, nee Reiss, was born August 31, 1840 in Germany. There she was baptized, instructed in "the one thing needful," and confirmed in the Lutheran church. There she was also united in marriage with Ferdinand Maruhn. This union was blessed with three children, two daughters and one son. The daughters preceded the mother into eternity, Mary dying in her infancy, and Anna, Mrs. George Meinke, departed this life eight years ago. Read More	Mrs. Dorothea Kahle, nee Reiss, was born August 31, 1840 in Germany. There she was baptized, instructed in "the one thing needful," and confirmed in the Lutheran church. There she was also united in marriage with Ferdinand Maruhn. This union was blessed with three children, two daughters and one son. The daughters preceded the mother into eternity, Mary dying in her infancy, and Anna, Mrs. George Meinke, departed this life eight years ago. In the year of 1884, she came to America with her husband and family and made her home on the farm west of Crete. There her husband met with an accidental death in 1888. A year later, she married Herman Kahle. Also, he was taken from her through a sudden death caused by an accident. Forty years she resided in Crete and vicinity, living in her home on Grove Avenue. Six years ago she began making her home with her grandchildren. The past four and one-half years she resided with her son, Edward, at Oxford, Nebraska. There she departed this life Saturday evening at 8:40 p.m., having attained the ripe old age of 89 years, 7 months, and 3 days. Her one son, four stepchildren, twelve grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren mourn her death. Funeral services were held in Oxford, Sunday; in Crete Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Kramer Lutheran cemetery, beside her daughter.
