Description	:	She was married 16 Mar 1857 in Clayton County, Iowa. In both the 1900 and 1910 census, she was listed as the mother of 14 with only 6 living. Suggested edit: A July 21, 1888, certified copy of her marriage record says "F. H. Beckman" and "Anna K. D. Dahling" were married on March 6, 1857, in Clayton County, Iowa. On affidavits (01/24/1890, 02/18/1890, 11/12/1890, 11/15/1890 and 12/06/1892) she signed as "Dorothea Beckman." On an affidavit dated 07/01/1893 she signed as "Anna Katharine Dorothea Beckman." On August 18, 1921, the Elkader Register reported: "Dorothea K. Beckman died at Littleport Tuesday, August 9, 1921, at 10:00 p.m. age eighty years, eleven months and nine days, after an illness of five years caused by dropsy. Deceased was born in Mecklenberg, Germany on August 31, 1840, a daughter of William and Katherine Dahling. She came to this country in 1854 and on March 6th, 1857 was united in marriage at Guttenberg to Frank Beckman, who preceded her in death in 1888. She is survived by five sons: Wm. Beckman . . . S.D., Fred and Louis Beckman, Littleport, Albert Beckman, Elkader, Chas. Beckman Owatonna, Minnesota, one daughter, Mrs. R. W. Albright, Rapid City, S.D. Besides her children there are twenty-two grandchildren and five great grand children, one brother, Wm. Dahling, Elkader and three sisters, Mary Reichart, Dubuque, Anna Bencke, Maynard and Lena Hildebrandt, Elkader who mourn her death. Deceased was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Ladie's Aid Society and numbered her friends by the score, by all of whom she will be missed. Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church in Littleport August 12, 1921, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Fritchel officiating. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the community in the loss of a loved one." Below the obituary was a "Card of Thanks" - "We desire to thank our many friends for all the kindness extended to us during our recent bereavement. The beautiful flowers, kind words and helpful deeds will never be forgotten. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Albright, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Beckman, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Beckman, Fred Beckman and Wm. Beckman."
