Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Olive Presbyterian Church in Platte. A Committal Service will follow at the Platte City Cemetery. Dorothy Amy (Nash) Ellingson Olston was born on August 10, 1922 in Platte, SD, the daughter of Charles and Ella (Hendrickson) Nash. She graduated from Platte High School in 1940 and attended Huron State College, becoming a rural school teacher in northwestern South Dakota. There she met and married Dick Ellingson on June 1, 1949. A few years after the death of her first husband in 1958, Dorothy was united in marriage to Jack Olston on June 15, 1962. They were together until Jack's passing in 1974. Dorothy lived in Oakland, CA and Mountain Grove, MO before moving back to Platte in 1977 upon the death of her father. Dorothy was a member of the Olive Presbyterian Church in Platte and was accompanist for numerous worship services. Over the years, Dorothy instructed many piano students who passed through her studio at the Heritage Court Apartments. Dorothy also enjoyed writing poetry and published a pamphlet of her poetry called "Pasque-Flowers and Other Poems." Dorothy was preceded in death by: her husbands; her parents; a brother, Robert Nash; a nephew, Dennis Nash; and a niece, Cleo Huiner-Ellingson.
