Dorothy was born on November 2, 1925, the daughter of Clara Margaret and Ralph R Fink on the family farm near Conrad. She graduated from Conrad Consolidated Schools in 1943. She attended Iowa State Teachers College, now University of Northern Iowa, for two years and later earned a B.A. in education from Drake University. She taught elementary grades at Toledo, Conrad, Grundy Center, and Eldora, IA schools. Dorothy dearly loved teaching and her students loved her. Dorothy married Dale Callaway on June 5, 1948, at the Alice Church of God, Conrad, Iowa, where she was a lifetime member. She was the church organist as long as her health permitted. Dorothy and Dale farmed in Grundy County until their retirement to Conrad in 1988. Dorothy loved gardening and always had a huge garden. She was intensely involved in community affairs, a devoted American Legion Auxiliary member, a long-time member of the Tuesday Musical Club, and loved her many cats. She is survived by her sister, Donna Mincks (Bill) of Cedar Falls; nieces Kendra Kleespie of Elma, Jane (Brian) Turner of Clive, Iowa, and Susan Pitcher of Gardner, Kansas.
