Description	:	Dorothy Ann Hanneman (Brunswick) April 3, 1934 – August 16, 2014 Dorothy Ann (North) Hanneman was born April 3, 1934, in Pierce County, Nebraska, to Herbert and Frances (Tift) North. This good and faithful servant was welcomed into everlasting life on Saturday morning, August 16, 2014, at the Norfolk Veterans Home. Dorothy attended rural school District #9, Pierce County; rural school District #122, Antelope County; Crozier Jr. High, Inglewood, CA; and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1951 as Salutatorian of her class. This good and faithful servant was welcomed into everlasting life on Saturday morning, August 16, 2014, at the Norfolk Veterans Home. Dorothy attended rural school District #9, Pierce County; rural school District #122, Antelope County; Crozier Jr. High, Inglewood, CA; and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1951 as Salutatorian of her class. She attended Wayne State College and taught at rural school District #122, Antelope County for one year. She married Gerald J. Hanneman on July 13, 1952, at the Brunswick Congregational Church, officiated by Rev. Clarence Hanscom. To this union five children were born: Gail Gene, Roger Dean, Marcus John, Candace Kay, and Craig Steven. She was also “Mom” to two foreign exchange students, Franz Weber from Bonn, Germany, now residing in Kona, Hawaii; and Foekje (Bajema) Schavemaker from Workum, Netherlands, now residing in Heerenven, Netherlands. Dorothy and Gerald lived on a farm northwest of Brunswick until April of 1991 when they moved to Plainview, NE. After Gerald moved into the Norfolk Veterans Home due health reasons, Dorothy moved to West Point, NE, to be closer to son, Craig. She joined Gerald in the Norfolk Veterans Home in the spring of 2012. In addition to being a wife and mother, Dorothy worked as a nurse’s aide at the Plainview General Hospital; enumerator for the USDA; Northeast Area Representative for the American Cancer Society-Nebraska; and Secretary for the Plainview Chamber of Commerce. She was active in the Brunswick Congregational Church, serving as youth group sponsor, choir director, past President of the Women’s Circle and Diaconate; Antelope County rural District #61 Board member and past President; Plainview School Board member and President of the Board in the 1970’s; past President of the Plainview Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #5330, Auxiliary; past President of District 3 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #5330, Auxiliary; Past Chairman of the Pierce County Republicans; member of the Plainview Women’s Club and the Brunswick Beautimous Babes Red Hat Society. She was also honored with the Plainview Outstanding Citizen Award in 1998. She had the opportunity to visit Germany, Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Washington DC, and much of the United States. A very busy woman, who always had time to help others, and especially enjoyed being with family and friends, playing cards, bingo, and embroidering. Dorothy is survived by her children, Gail (Susan) Hanneman, Marcus Hanneman, Candace (Tom) Ristow, all of Lincoln, and Craig (Rhonda) Hanneman of Gibbon. Fourteen Grandchildren: Laura, Elliott, and Garrett Hanneman, all of Lincoln; Elizabeth (Cody) Kromarek of Plainview; Nathaniel (Laura) Ristow of Fitchburg, WI, Andrew (Rebecca) Ristow of Omaha, James (Jaime) Ristow of Sumter, SC, Thaddaeus and Simon Ristow of Lincoln; Jenna Hanneman of Wayne, Tyler, Marissa, and Brett Hanneman, all of Lincoln. Five Great-Grandchildren: Abbie, Colt, and Zane Kromarek of Plainview, Tucker Raveling of Wayne, and Casimir Ristow of Fitchburg, WI. Brother Loring (Lois) North of Brunswick, and a host of nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; son, Roger; grandson, Richard; her parents, Herbert and Frances (Tift) North; sister, Hilda Morrison Smith Lange; brother, Charles North; and sister, Verna Feyerherm. Visitation will be held at the Ashburn Funeral Home, Plainview, on Wednesday, August 20th, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family receiving visitors from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21st, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Plainview. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Plainview. A lunch will follow at the Plainview American Legion Club.
