She was born in Franklin on May 18, 1910, the daughter of Walter J. Richardson and Grace H. (Taylor) Richardson. She grew up in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School. Starie, 97, formerly of Lancaster Street and View Street, Franklin died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at the Mountain Ridge Genesis Eldercare Center, Franklin following a long illness. She was born in Franklin on May 18, 1910, the daughter of Walter J. Richardson and Grace H. (Taylor) Richardson. She grew up in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School. After graduating from college she married John H. Starie, who died in 1973. During the 1960s she lived in Bethesda, Md., where her husband was employed by the U.S. Department of Education in Washington. Mrs. Starie was formerly employed at the Tilton School and the Franklin Public Library. She was a longtime member of the Franklin United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a former member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church, Bethesda, Md. Her home on Lancaster Street was well known to the neighborhood youth as a drop-in center and place to receive advice and counseling from Mrs. Starie. She is survived by a son, John "Jay" Starie of Franklin. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Franklin Cemetery, Thompson Park, Franklin with the Rev. Carol Cray, pastor of the Franklin United Methodist Church, officiating. H.L. Young & Company Memorial Home, 175 South Main St., Franklin is in charge of arrangements.
