*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF *** Dorothy Avonelle (Collins) Meyer was born on Tuesday; February 6, 1917 in Iowa Falls; Hardin County, Iowa She was the daughter of: Floyd and Elizabeth (Scheel) Collins. Dorothy graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1934 and Ellsworth Junior College in 1936. Dorothy was united in marriage to William Meyer on September 20, 1938 at the Christian Church in Iowa Falls, Iowa by the Reverend Mrs. L.H. Sours. Dorothy was a housewife and had been a teacher at a country school at Pleasant Valley, Dist. #7. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), was a member and held offices in Christian Women's Fellowship at First Christian Church, Mothers Club, Senior Citizens Center, and Senior Bowling League. Dorothy Avonelle (Collins) Meyer, age: 93, passed away on Tuesday; November 9, 2010 at Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her husband: William "Bill" Meyer of Iowa Falls, Iowa; her son, Roger (Mardelle) Meyer of Iowa Falls; a daughter, Betty (Jerry) Gardalen of Gilman; a son: James (Judy) Meyer of Geneva; Franklin County, Iowa; her eleven grandsons: Michael (Cheryl) Meyer of San Marcos; San Diego County, California, Mark (Laurie) Meyer of Ripley; Lauderdale County, Tennessee, Paul (Connie) Gardalen of Marshalltown, Iowa, Rick Meyer of Wayzata; Hennepin County, Minnesota, Brett (Shawna) Meyer of West Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa, William (Shannon) Meyer of Waukee; Dallas County, Minnesota, Troy (Marcie) Meyer of Victoria; Carver County, Minnesota, Timothy (Melinda) Meyer of Saint Louis; Saint Louis County, Missouri, Rodney (Kayla) Meyer of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Scott (Stacey) Rush of Alden; Hardin County, Iowa and Mark (Liz) Rush of Alden, Iowa; her two granddaughters: Kristie (Matt) Steelsmith of Tucson; Pima County, Arizona and Annette (Jeff) Duit of Denison; Crawford County, Iowa; her twenty-nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother: Eugene and her two sisters: Florence and Jo Marie. May they rest in peace. May God bless her memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be from: 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at:11:00 a.m. on Monday at the First Christian Church in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Interment will be at the Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls, Iowa. |
