Mrs. Gable graduated from Roanoke High School in 1941 and attended Ball State University. She was co-owner, bookkeeper and secretary of Eagle Farms, retiring in 1993. She was a charter member of the Timbercrest Auxiliary and served as its president for five years. Gable, 87, of North Manchester, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at 11:10 a.m. at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester. Mrs. Gable graduated from Roanoke High School in 1941 and attended Ball State University. She was co-owner, bookkeeper and secretary of Eagle Farms, retiring in 1993. She was a charter member of the Timbercrest Auxiliary and served as its president for five years. She was a lifelong member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren and was a member of its women's circle. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women and Tri Kappa, both in North Manchester, and the National Camper and Hikers Association. She was active in the Huntington County Historical Society and the Indiana Archaeological Society. She was born July 31, 1923, in Huntington County to Dr. Raymond and Haldes Sundland Gurley. She married Donald K. Gable on Nov. 14, 1943. Her husband survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Dennis (Judy) Gable, of Elkhart, and Norman (Laura) Gabe, of North Manchester; a daughter, Rita Gable, of Denver, CO; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A service will be held at a later date. Preferred memorials are gifts to Timbercrest Senior Living Community, PO Box 501, North Manchester, IN 46962. McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
