Dorey Date: March 20, 2013 Dorothy B. Dorey Shaw & Sons Funeral Directors YAKIMA - Dorothy B. Dorey, age 94, entered the arms of Jesus on March 14, 2013 in Yakima, WA. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother who lived an extraordinary life. She was the matriarch and the rock of our family. She was well known for her caring, loving, and generosity. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. She was born to Vernon and Bess Cooper in Golden Valley, ND on September 9, 1918. She moved to Spokane, WA when she was a young girl. She then moved to Wenatchee, WA and attended school there. She met and married her husband, Joseph L. Dorey, in August of 1934 in Wenatchee, WA. They were married for 66 years. They moved to Yakima, WA in 1945. Together they raised four children and numerous grandchildren/great grandchildren. Dorothy was a very dedicated and hard worker. She worked throughout her life in the fruit industry; working for Libby's, Holtzinger Fruit, and Stadleman's Fruit. She retired in the late 70's. She loved canning, sewing, baking, and gardening. Her rose bushes were one of the joys of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends. She was always there for all of us with a smile and a sound piece of advice or a great story to tell. The last few years of her life were spent with her daughter, Delores, granddaughter, Darla, grandson, Dennis, and great grandson, Shane, caring for her. She was always surrounded by love and respect, for she was the most precious lady in the world to all of us! Song for an Angel An angel whispered, take my hand and come with me -- your work on Earth is done. The angel said, "You're going to a place where there are no tears or sorrow, but only laughter and smiles -- there will always be tomorrow. As I move among the clouds, I'll look down on you and smile -- while the angels sing a heavenly song. Do not grieve for me; for I'm not alone -- I'm with all who went before me, they are welcoming me home. Even though I'm gone, I am here in the memories you hold dear. Always remember how much I love you, and know that I took your love with me. I do not wish for you to cry, or feel sad -- for my pain is now gone and I am free. I will see you again, and until then "God" will be with you, just as he is with me! Dorothy is survived by her sister, Charlotte (Ted) Tolle of Ocean Park, WA, a son, Richard L. Dorey and a daughter, Delores L. McLoud of Yakima, WA; grandchildren: Darla (Mike) Hartgrove, Dennis (Carrie) Lompa, Joey McLoud, Sherrie (Greg) Testerman, Barbara (Glenn) Alexander, Darlene (Steve) St. George, Sandy (Tracy) Catron, Gary Cowles, Rhonda Walk, Jimmy (Kim) Cowles, and Chris Dorey; great grandchildren: Shane (Tarra) Hull, Christopher Morford, Nicholas (Brittany) Lompa, Calen McLoud, Jordan McLoud, Tara (Chad) Palmer, Jennifer Testerman, Shausta (Guy) Sponaugle, Tonya (Rich) Lucas, Troy Friday, Keria Alexander, Kyle St. George, Chase Mauch, Tae Catron, Amanda Cowles, Tiffany (Chris) Miller, Jordan Cowles, Shyanne (Gilbert) Morin, Jessie Stillwaugh, Jacob Harris, and Jack Harris; great-great grandchildren: Iris Davis, Brendan Hull, Natalie Hull, Quinn Lompa, Carson Palmer, Brayden Palmer, Austen Testerman, Kassi Lucas, Colton Lucas, Kaylee Morin, Destiney Morin, Lilliana ! At her request there will not be any viewing or services.
