She was a native of Carter County and was the daughter of the late Frank and Nancy Nidiffer Bowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Bowers. Ms. Bowers was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and flowers, and loved cooking. She was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church. Survivors include one sister, Mollie Phillips, Elizabethton; one brother, Arthur Bowers, Elizabethton; four nieces, Rose Marie Carr, Sandy Matherly, Kathy Phillips, and Janet Coleman; three nephews, Jerry Wayne Coleman, Jamie Phillips, and Tommy Bowers. Several great nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Ms. Bowers will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, October 22, 2012, in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace in Elizabethton with Rev. Sherrel Nave officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday prior to the service or at the home of a sister, Mollie Phillips. Music will be under the direction of Sue Bowers and Dale Williams. The graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at Pearl Bowers Cemetery, with Rev. Mack Presnell officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
