Read More	Suwannee Democrat September 19, 2013 Jasper News Obituaries - Sept. 19, 2013 Suwannee Democrat Jasper — Dorothy Carter Hill April 21, 1923 - Sept. 15, 2013 Dorothy Carter Hill, age 90, of Jasper, Fla. passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at her home following an illness of some time. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Jasper, Fla. with Pastor Roger Hutto officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Fla. Ms. Hill was born on April 21, 1923 in Echols County, GA. to the late William and Neta Carter. Upon graduation from high school, Dorothy attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee and graduated from Valdosta State College with a Degree in Education. She taught elementary education for almost 30 years in Hamilton County. During her career she coached girl's basketball and invested in the lives of many young children until her retirement in 1992. She was a faithful member at First Baptist Church in Jasper until her health prohibited her attendance. Ms. Hill was predeceased by her husband, Billy Wayde Hill, her daughter, Claire Hill Stewart, her parents William and Neta Carter and two brothers, Survivors include her daughter, Karen Hill, Lake Park, GA.; one brother, Fred Carter, Sylvester, GA.; one sister, Doris Bassett, Gretna, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tory Harris (Beth), Tara Harris Phelps (Heath) and Tate Harris (Victoria); one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Claire Harris. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Nature Coast, 857 SW Main Blvd Suite 125, Lake City, Fla. 32025 or to the Teacher's Memorial Scholarship Trust Fund, 207 N.E 2nd Street, Jasper, Fla. 32052.
