She came to America in 1820, with her parents, and settled in Virginia, where she grew to womanhood. She was converted and and joined the M.M. She came to America in 1820, with her parents, and settled in Virginia, where she grew to womanhood. She was converted and and joined the M.M. Church when a little girl, and very soon became noted, even among those older than herself, for her faithfulness and devotion to her religious duties. She was married to Charles Goldenburg in the city of Wheeling, Virginia, on the 4th day of March, 1835. Two years after her marriage, in November 1837, she came and with her husband and settled in Vevay, Indiana, where she remained until her death, August 3, 1882, age sixty-eight. She was the mother of six children. Four are dead, and two, William the business partner of his father, and Hester, the wife of O. S. Waddo, survive her. Mrs. Goldenburg came to Vevay when it was a mere village, and for forty-three years was identified with its growth. In the struggles of the early setttlers securing homes, establishing businesses, erecting schools and churches and fostering the education and moral interest of the community, she was not idle but in full sympathy with every such enterprise, and in each did her full share, Much of the time during the past 15 years of life, was spent visiting the sick and poor and administering to their wants; work in which she took great delight. And those who were recipeants of her administrations, praised them very highly for if she did nothing more always took sunshine and Christian sympathy in her heart and the suffering felt better for her coming. She was confined to her bed for threemonths prvious to her deth and the nature of her disease (cancer of the stomach) was such as to cause her at times much intense pain, but she bore her sufferings without a murmur and her death was as complete a Christian triumph as was ever witnessed She died beloved and regretted by all who loved her.
