Read More	Gaffney Ledger obituary October 28, 2016 Dorothy “Dot” Blanton Kirby, 87, of 125 Pleasant Meadows Drive, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Rutherfordton, N.C., she was the wife of Robert Wilkins Kirby, Sr. and daughter of the late William Perry Blanton and Gertrude Dotson Blanton. She was a graduate of Ellenboro School & Cecil’s Business College, was a former secretary/bookkeeper at various employments, retired as a Customer Service Manager at Wal-Mart, and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Dr. Robert W. Kirby, Jr. and wife, Deedra, of Cowpens, S.C. and Greg Kirby and wife, Shirley (Sam) of Gaffney; two daughters, Karen Blalock and husband, Robert, Jr., of Gastonia, N.C. and Denise Humphries and husband, Nicky, of Gaffney; a sister, Joan B. Thompson and husband, Kenneth, of Forest City, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Keith A. Kirby and a sister, Geraldine Johnson. The family would like to extend special thanks to Peachtree Centre, 3rd floor staff and Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Peachtree Centre, 3rd Floor, 1434 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C. 29340 or Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342.
