Description	:	Mrs. Dorothy Lambright Smoots, age 89, of Oakmont of Union died Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mrs. Smoots was born in Union, SC June 19, 1918, a daughter of the late Daniel Thomas Lambright, Sr and Irene Davis Lambright. She graduated Union High School and attended Cecile's Business College. Mrs. Smoots retired from South Carolina Employment Security Commission and was later employed with H.I.P. which was founded in Union by Dr. Katherine Jeter. Read More	Mrs. Dorothy Lambright Smoots, age 89, of Oakmont of Union died Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Mrs. Smoots was born in Union, SC June 19, 1918, a daughter of the late Daniel Thomas Lambright, Sr and Irene Davis Lambright. She graduated Union High School and attended Cecile's Business College. Mrs. Smoots retired from South Carolina Employment Security Commission and was later employed with H.I.P. which was founded in Union by Dr. Katherine Jeter. She volunteered with the Union County Republican Party where several times she was named Volunteer of the Year. Mrs. Smoots also was a volunteer with the Union County Mental Health Association and the S.C. State Mental Health Association. She a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors are two nephews: Beverly C. Russell of Roebuck and Thomas D. Lambright of Gaffney and a niece, Nancy Lambright Massey of Woodstock, Ga. Mrs. Smoots was predeceased by three sisters: Ina L. Richardson, Gladys L. Russell and Lorena "Ren" Lambright; a brother, Daniel T. Lambright, Jr; a niece, Lula Dianne Russell and a nephew, Ralph T. Richardson. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Gary Byrd. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tray Newton, O'Neal Howell, Steve Massey, Scott Massey, Bill Lambright, Bill Gramling, George Westbury, Hugh Mack Westbury and Bob Inglis. The following are asked to assemble at the church at 1:45 PM to form the Honorary Escort: Turner Mason, Bill Stribling, Les Anderson, Buck Sprouse, James Bailes, Jr., Billy Joe Bailes, John Bailes, Jerry Bailes, George Lynn, Dr. Jeffery Craft and Jerry Parks. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday in the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 201 S. Church Street, Union, SC 29379 or to the Epworth Children's Home, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250.
