Dorothy was born in 1906, in Lamoine, where her father owned a store. When the railroad didn't come through, the family moved to Okanogan and then to Chelan when Dorothy was six years old. She attended grade school and high school in Chelan and played the organ for the silent moves at the Ruby Theater while her brother, Harold Bragg, was the projectionist. Dorothy also attended WSU majoring in pharmacy and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delto sorority. Throughout her life, Dorothy was known for her generosity in playing the piano and organ for the Apple Blossom Festival, style shows and as an accompanist for different gatherings. Dorothy was also known for her years of participation in the Stehekin community, the Manson apple growing community, the Manson School Board for seven years, PEO and she was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Stars. Dorothy was one of the last Chelan Valley pioneers and she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur William Peterson, her parents, Leonard and Hattie Bragg, her brothers, Harold and Bill Bragg, and her son Dale Peterson. Dorothy died at her ranch home of 70 years, surrounded by her family members on Sunday, March 11, 2001. God speed. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Barbara Stevens and her husband, Jack; her daughter-in-law, Jean Peterson; her daughter, Dina Peterson Friedman and her husband, Dick; her daughter, Gail Peterson Boyd; her granddaughter, Debbie Gianulis and her husband, Jim; her granddaughter, Kerry Miller; her grandson, Craig Stevens and his wife, Annette at the home; her granddaughter, Stacy Kallstrom and her husband, Ted; her granddaughter, Kim Ozolin and her husband, Elmer; her grandson, Brooke Peterson; her grandson, Brad Peterson and his wife, Trish; her grandson, Jason Friedman and his wife, Janet; her grandson, Jordan Friedman and his wife, Elizabeth; her grandson, Casey Peterson Boyd; granddaughter, Britton Peterson Boyd; and 20 great-grandchildren. The family suggests that any donations be made to the Manson United Methodist Church. Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
