Description	:	Dorothy Gruver, age 88, of Tucson, AZ, and formerly of Huron, died Thursday, February 17, 2005, at the Montrose Assisted Living Center at Tucson, Arizona. A family memorial service was held in Tucson on Tuesday, February 22. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 Saturday, April 30, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kevin Channell officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday afternoon. Dorothy Gruver was born Dorothy Elizabeth Price on February 22, 1916, to Charles and Maude (Payne) Price at Hitchcock. SD. She graduated from Hitchcock High School. On August 20, 1934, Dorothy married Howard Gruver of Redfield. They lived in Hitchcock for 9 years and then moved to Huron. She assisted her husband with their construction business, H.E. Gruver and Sons Construction Company, which was established in 1946. In the late 1940s, the company built houses in southwestern Huron and beginning in the 1950s the company was responsible for much of the curb and gutter in Huron and the highways and airport runways statewide. They also owned Watertown Steel Structures, which erected Quonset buildings around the Watertown area. After her husbands death in 1979, Dorothy dissolved the company and continued to live in Huron while spending winters primarily in Tucson. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Huron, Daughters of the Soddies, and the Beadle County Historical Society. She is survived by 7 children, Gene (Dorothy) Gruver of Tucson, AZ, Galen (Delores) Gruver of Coalinga, CA, Charles (Dee) Gruver of Pico Rivera, CA, Bonnie (Wayne) King of Silver City, NM, Merry (Rob) Shaver of Austin, TX, Dorian (Dave) Garner of Tulsa, OK, and Shelly (Russell) Tarvin of Tucson, AZ; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; and 1 daughter, Geraldine Meidema.
