Dorothy Emilie Alvena (Kay) Hansen was born on July 5, 1909 at rural Wakefield, NE to John D. and Martha (Longe) Kay. She was baptized on August 1, 1909 and later confirmed on April 13, 1924 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Wakefield. Dorothy attended Wayne Co. District School #24 and Wakefield High School. On August 27, 1932, she was united in marriage to Walter J. Hansen at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Wakefield. Dorothy Emilie Alvena (Kay) Hansen was born on July 5, 1909 at rural Wakefield, NE to John D. and Martha (Longe) Kay. She was baptized on August 1, 1909 and later confirmed on April 13, 1924 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Wakefield. Dorothy attended Wayne Co. District School #24 and Wakefield High School. On August 27, 1932, she was united in marriage to Walter J. Hansen at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Wakefield. The couple owned and operated Hansen's Dry Cleaners and Clothing Store in Wisner, NE. In 1954, the couple bought the Hansen family farm west of Wisner and moved back into Wisner in 1968. After selling the dry cleaning business in 1973, Dorothy also worked at the Wisner Manor as a nurses' aide. After Walter passed away on April 1, 1996, Dorothy continued to reside at home until entering the Wisner Care Center Assisted Living in 2006. Dorothy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid, served on the church council, belonged to a county project club, and a flower club. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling, cooking and baking, doing crafts and loved playing cards. Survivors include- Daughter-Greta Roth of Wisner, NE Grandchildren and families- Traci Ebel of Wisner and daughter Abbi Amy and husband Jim Skovsende of Omaha, NE and daughters Nicole & Megan Kayla and husband Todd Consbruck of West Point, NE and daughters Logan & Campbell Tyler and wife Stacey Roth of Wisner, NE and children Eli and Alaina Cara Roberts of Las Vegas, NV and fiancée Norm Clarke Chris Hansen of Holbrook, NE and daughter Mackenzie Brother- Dale Kay of Wakefield, NE Sister-in-law- Luella Kay of Wakefield, NE. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Walter, son-in-law-LonnieRoth, grandson-in-law-Ken Ebel, sisters-Olga Conner, Vernetta Busby, and Mildred Grimm, and brothers-Fred, Milford and Merlyn Kay.
