Description	:	Dorothy Fay (Shepard) Poe was born August 13, 1919, to Lewis W. and Dollie (Rose) Shepard in Coleridge, Nebraska. The family lived on several farm places in Nebraska and Iowa. Dorothy married Edward A. Poe on April 19, 1939. Their early married life was spent farming. In 1947 the couple moved to Denver Colorado and returned to Woodbine in 1948. The family lived on several farm places in Nebraska and Iowa. Dorothy married Edward A. Poe on April 19, 1939. Their early married life was spent farming. In 1947 the couple moved to Denver Colorado and returned to Woodbine in 1948. Dorothy began working for White Funeral Home in 1964 and worked there for 18 years. Dorothy earned her GED in 1973. Her children and grandchildren proudly attended this ceremony. Ed and Dorothy joined the Woodbine Rescue Unit and volunteered for 20 years. In 1979 they moved to Marquette, Nebraska and returned to Woodbine in 1980 where she spent the rest of her life. Ed died on January 7, 1998, after enjoying 58 years of marriage. Dorothy stayed in her home until 2002 when she moved to Rose Vista Assisted Living. She moved to the nursing home in 2007. Dorothy accepted Christ as her savior as a young child and lived her entire life in service to her Lord. Her life was an example to her family and friends. She was always willing to find the humor in life and even laugh at herself. Dorothy died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 88 years, eight months and 10 days. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Poe; three sisters, Mildred Toepfer, Alice McCurley and Myrtle Kerger; and two sons-in-law, Jerry Baxter and Lloyd Smith. She is survived by her four children, Betty (Dewey) Neel of Ord, Nebraska, Connie (Curt) Kline of Dunlap, Iowa, Sharron (Hap) Kindred of Woodbine, Iowa, Robert (Mary) Poe of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
