Dorothy Freese of LaFayette, GA, and formerly of Monticello, died April 5 at Hutcheson Medical Center, Fort Oglethorpe, GA, following a brief illness. Dorothy Helen Rismiller was born Nov 18, 1921 in Johnson County, IA, the daughter of Harry and Nora Steers Rismiller. She was a 1938 graduate of Tipton High School and was employed at the Cedar County Treasurer's office. Dorothy Rismiller and Alva Freese were married Dec. 3, 1941 at Kahoka, MO. The couple made their home in Lovell Township, Jones County, where they armed. In 1946 Alva started Freese Implement Sales, a Ford tractor dealership and later bought the Ford car dealership. Dorothy operated a ceramics business from her home for several years. The couple retired and moved to LaFayette in 1979. Dorothy had been a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Monticello and presently a member of the First United Methodist Church in LaFayette, where she sang in the choir. Dorothy is survived by her husband; three daughters, Sharon Kromminga of Monticello, Karen Rucker of Noblesville, IN, and Carolyn Michelle Freese of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean VanDusen, LaFayette, GA; two brothers, Don Rismiller of LaFayette and Robert Rismiller of Forestville, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, John and Phillip, and two brothers.
