Description	:	Dorothy J. Carlo, 92, of Ottumwa, died at 12:03 a.m. January 7, 2019 at Hospice House in Ottumwa. She was born June 6, 1926 in Ottumwa to Frank and Jennie Maaskant Cloud. She married Melvin Carlo on June 10, 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2003. A 1944 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Dorothy had worked for 28 years at John Morrell & Co., retiring in 1973. Carlo, 92, of Ottumwa, died at 12:03 a.m. January 7, 2019 at Hospice House in Ottumwa. She was born June 6, 1926 in Ottumwa to Frank and Jennie Maaskant Cloud. She married Melvin Carlo on June 10, 1947 and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2003. A 1944 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Dorothy had worked for 28 years at John Morrell & Co., retiring in 1973. She was a member of East End Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter #112 and Christina Court #3 White Shrine. Dorothy enjoyed hunting and bowling and was a very proud member of the 600 Club in her bowling league. She enjoyed fishing and boating. Dorothy is survived by her grandsons, Jeremy (Amy) Carlo of Fallon NV and Jonathan (Jamie) Carlo of Glenwood; 6 grandchildren, Ben, Claire, Sophie, Olivia, Emma and Jacob. She is also survived by special friends, Chester and Lori Funk and Noah Jackson of Ottumwa and Josh Jackson of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Carlo. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Hospice House in Ottumwa.
