Description	:	Dorothy Hymans, age 91, of Hull, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Dorothy Jean was born on April 19, 1922, at George, the daughter of Francis H. and Helen (Isabrands) Mak. When she was about ten years old, her family moved to Hull, where she graduated from the public high school. She also earned a teaching certificate at Northwestern College in Orange City. Read More	Dorothy Hymans, age 91, of Hull, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Dorothy Jean was born on April 19, 1922, at George, the daughter of Francis H. and Helen (Isabrands) Mak. When she was about ten years old, her family moved to Hull, where she graduated from the public high school. She also earned a teaching certificate at Northwestern College in Orange City. She taught in a one room school house near Hull and later, during World War II, became a secretary in Sioux City. On March 14, 1945, she married Dowie James Hymans in Sioux City. They made their home mostly in Hull, where she was a homemaker. Later, she was employed at the Hegg Memorial Hospital and Hope Haven, both in Rock Valley. "Jim" passed away on January 26, 1975, in Sioux Center. Mrs. Hymans retired in 1987. In 2005, she became a resident of the Homestead, and on May 1, 2012, she transferred to the Pleasant Acres Care Center, both in Hull. She was a member of the American Reformed Church in Hull, where she served as an officer in the Reformed Church Women, directed the Junior Choir, taught catechism classes, and served on the latest pastoral search committee. Her church and family were most important to her, and she enjoyed traveling. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Hymans, of Columbus, Ohio; three sons and their wives, Dallas Hymans and Sydney Morrison, of Ashland, Oregon; Daniel and Mary Hymans, of Ashland, Wisconsin; and Dwight Hymans and Karla Kenefake-Hymans, of Haymarket, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Alyson Backus-Hymans, Andrew Cataldo, Katie Hymans, David Hymans, James Hymans, Ryan Kenefake, Andrew Hymans, and Jeffrey Kenefake; and four great-grandchildren.
