She had four Canfield siblings: Lynn Benton Canfield (1891-1909), Lee Wallace Canfield (1893-1983), Llyod Jacob Canfield (1895-1960), Leora Olive Canfield (1897-1996). Dorothy was adopted in 1904 at York, York Co., Nebraska, by the Mitchells. Leora was adopted in 1905 by Walter G. and Minnie L. Keeler.
